UCHealth is taking proactive measures to protect patients, visitors and health care workers by expanding visitor restrictions and policies at its acute care facilities and ambulatory clinics. Due to the unexpected spread of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to suspend the Summer Teen Program. We are aware many of you have been in the process of completing your application online and requesting references from school counselors. We apologize for any difficulty you may have. Please know that we value your safety as well as the safety of others at the forefront of our patient safety plans. Our goal is tooffer a shorter Summer Teen experience once the restrictions are lifted. Please look for announcements on a new program in the coming weeks!

Our nationally recognized Summer Teen Volunteer Program is an immersive volunteer and learning experience beginning June 8 completing in early August. Summer Teen Volunteers are expected to complete at least 48 hours of volunteer service and complete at least 4 education sessions at the number one hospital in Colorado.

Rising high school Juniors and Seniors with at least a 3.4 GPA may apply beginning February 15th when the application becomes available and no later than March 27th. The application includes an essay and reference forms from a high school counselor and another adult who knows the applicant well. Applicants are notified in late April. Submission of an application does not guarantee participation in this exciting, competitive program.

To help you get started we are publishing this year's essay question in advance so you can begin planning and writing.  The essay question and references are major components of how we evaluate applications as we get so much interest from great students.  Taking time to carefully craft your essay and following directions can improve your chances of being accepted for the program.  Your essay should be between 500-600 words.
