Welcome to UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital and Metro Denver area clinics

Thank you for your interest in Volunteering or having a Shadowing/Observership experience at the University of Colorado Hospital and metro Denver clinics. UCHealth is taking proactive measures to protect its patients, visitors, and healthcare workers by continuing to maintain visitor restrictions and policies at its acute care facilities and ambulatory clinics. While we understand that visitor restrictions are inconvenient, they provide an additional layer of protection for everyone.

COVID-19 vaccinations are required for all volunteering, shadowing, and observerships. Date of last shot must be at least two weeks out from the start date.

Volunteering opportunities take into account:

  • The need to wear a surgical mask, wash hands often and allow for social distancing in order to minimize risk with COVID-19 and its variants.
  • The need to complete education regarding COVID-19 requirements.
  • The need to clean and sanitize work spaces carefully and often.
  • The need to ensure volunteers are not allowed in an area/room where there is a patient with COVID.

UCHealth is allowing Shadowing only in the following circumstances:

  • As part of a job interview when it would be beneficial to help the applicant to better understand the role.
  • For UCHealth staff/providers to shadow another UCHealth staff/provider.

Shadowing is not allowed in an area where patients with COVID are receiving care. Observerships continue to be suspended.

This opportunity may be withdrawn at any time due to a change in COVID. Please know we have your welfare as well as the welfare of others at the forefront of our patient safety plans.

Thank you for deciding to volunteer with us. You are joining a dedicated team that provides the highest quality health care in the #1 Hospital in Colorado. Through the generous gift of your time, skills and personal interests, you supplement the work of staff and providers in offering many special services that are important to our patients, families, visitors and the hospital staff. Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, care for your community and meet new people and you will soon see, the greatest reward for volunteering is that special feeling that comes when you give of yourself for the betterment of others. We welcome you as a member of our medical center family and thank you for choosing UCHealth as your place to volunteer and share your time.

With gratitude,
