FAQ Job Options

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities and volunteer student internships. Some are in clinical areas, but we have great ways to help in non-clinical areas also.

We support inpatient units like our Transplant unit, our Orthopedics unit and our many Intensive Care Units. We also have volunteers in our Progressive Care units. There are opportunities in the Emergency Department, Gift Shops, Outpatient clinics and as a NICU Cuddler. Some opportunities are administrative and some involve volunteering directly with patients.

Right now we have a need in our Emergency Department and for unit assistants, especially on weekdays.

Wayfinding

UCH is a big place and it is easy to get lost. Wayfinders help others to their appointments, tests, visits, etc. They are often the first face of the hospital.
Patient Resource Center

When someone needs access to resources, a printer or simply a computer, volunteers help them get access.
Gift shop

Volunteers greet customers, assist with locating products, wrap gifts, make flower deliveries to patients and staff, and support the all-round gift shop operations.
Unit Assistants

Volunteers help to stock rooms, meet patient needs and help support staff. Unit assistants are on patient floors such as the ICUs, Orthopedics, Oncology and many others. This is often a very busy role and good for someone considering a healthcare career.
Administrative Assistants

Volunteers welcome people, organize paperwork, put together educational materials for new patients and make follow up calls.
Purposeful Visitation

Visit with patients who just need a listening ear, a kind heart and someone who will help them pass the time. Specific training is provided for this role.

Emergency Department

This is a busy, fast paced environment. Volunteers support patients, run errands and stock rooms in our cutting edge ED. A great opportunity for a pre-med student.
Patient Navigator

Follow up with patients after they return home. Assist with finding community resources, getting medications, and scheduling appointments.
On-Call volunteer

Performs quick, short-term projects or help with special events.
Anschutz Cancer Pavilion

Volunteers help with clerical work and provide good customer service to cancer patients, while offering a listening ear. Trained Reiki volunteers may offer this complementary therapy.
Recharge room

Welcome staff, providers, faculty, learners and contractors to the immersive, peaceful and calming environment of the ReCharge Room. Manage the check-in procedure, explain relaxation opportunities, and maintain the facilities in the room.
